Fluoridex is a prescription-strength fluoride toothpaste — 1.1% sodium fluoride (5000 ppm). For comparison, regular over-the-counter toothpaste contains around 0.32% sodium fluoride (1450 ppm). Fluoridex creates a strong barrier on the teeth against decay, acid erosion, and sensitivity, and is used by patients with elevated cavity risk.
Soothing Dental carries the Sensitivity formulations (regular and SLS-free) and the Whitening formulation:
- The Sensitivity formula adds 5% potassium nitrate to help calm sensitive teeth, and is also offered in an SLS-free version for patients who react to sodium lauryl sulfate (canker-sore-prone, oral lichen planus, etc.).
- The Whitening formula contains silica as a mild abrasive to help remove surface stains.
Use once daily as directed by your dentist (twice daily may be appropriate per Dr. Saeidi) a pea-sized amount in place of regular toothpaste. After brushing, do not eat or drink for 30 minutes so the fluoride is absorbed onto the tooth surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions
Fluoridex vs Clinpro 5000 — which should I pick?
Both are 1.1% sodium fluoride (5000 ppm) prescription toothpastes. The practical difference is the formulations available:
- Clinpro does not have sensitivity-reducing or whitening variants — it is a straightforward prescription-strength fluoride. Pick Clinpro if you don't have specific sensitivity or whitening needs and just want extra mineralization.
- Fluoridex offers Sensitivity (regular), Sensitivity (SLS-free), and Whitening variants. Pick Fluoridex if you need targeted sensitivity reduction (with or without SLS) or stain control alongside extra mineralization.
- Clinpro is also available in two flavors (Mint and Bubble Gum); Fluoridex is mint-only — relevant for patients who can't tolerate mint.
Does Fluoridex help with sensitivity?
Yes — the Sensitivity variant contains 5% potassium nitrate, which helps calm the nerve endings inside the tooth's microscopic channels (dentinal tubules). Most patients notice reduced sensitivity within about 2 weeks of twice-daily brushing. An SLS-free version is available for patients who react to sodium lauryl sulfate.
Do I need a prescription?
Yes — 5000 ppm fluoride toothpaste is FDA-classified as prescription. Soothing Dental's team reviews Rx eligibility through a brief telehealth screen — a complimentary Rx review is included.
