MI Paste by GC America — known internationally as Tooth Mousse — delivers RECALDENT (CPP-ACP), a milk-derived complex of casein phosphopeptides and amorphous calcium phosphate that binds to tooth surfaces and supports remineralization of enamel. "MI Paste" is the US brand name; "Tooth Mousse" is GC America's international name for the same product. The fluoride-free original formula is the standard choice for kids, anyone avoiding fluoride, and as a complement to in-office fluoride treatments.

Apply a pea-sized amount to clean teeth (after brushing), let it sit on the enamel for 1–3 minutes (with or without customized trays), then spit out without rinsing. Avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes afterward.

Note: this product contains milk-derived ingredients and is not suitable for anyone with a milk-protein allergy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MI Paste the same as Tooth Mousse?

Yes. MI Paste (US/Canada) and Tooth Mousse (rest of the world) are the same RECALDENT (CPP-ACP) formulation from GC America — just sold under different brand names by region. The active ingredients, application instructions, and clinical evidence are identical.

What is the difference between MI Paste and MI Paste Plus?

MI Paste contains CPP-ACP (Recaldent) — calcium and phosphate only, no fluoride. It is used for anyone wanting fluoride-free remineralization, or patients with white spot lesions who already get fluoride elsewhere. MI Paste Plus adds 0.2% fluoride for adults with high cavity risk.

Who should use MI Paste (base)?

Best fit: children under 6 who shouldn't swallow fluoride toothpaste, orthodontic patients with white spot lesions during treatment, post-bleaching enamel recovery, and during pregnancy when patients prefer fluoride-free care. Apply after brushing and leave on enamel for 1–3 minutes.

How long does one tube last?

A 1.7 oz tube typically lasts 4–6 weeks for daily use. For white-spot reversal protocols, a tube may last 2–3 weeks under more frequent application.
